What Is Wealthy Affiliate?

Wealthy Affiliate, in short, is a platform that enables people to make money online through a method named affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing basically involves promoting products or services for companies such as Amazon in return for commissions which are paid on successful sales.

So as an example, you could sign up as an affiliate of Amazon (which is free to do) & then that gives you the opportunity to promote their products.

If you promote them & somebody you promote them to purchases something, you get paid.

It’s a pretty simple way to earn money, but whilst the process is simple, whether or not you find success with it depends on whether or not you’re able to effectively promote your links.

And that’s what Wealthy Affiliate is designed to help with.

Wealthy Affiliate provides the tools, training & support that you need in order to be able to effectively promote products or services as an affiliate & earn good money.

So at Wealthy Affiliate, you’ll learn step-by-step what affiliate marketing is (in more detail), you’ll learn how to find things to promote, and you’ll get the tools you need to actually effectively promote them.

And it’s safe to say that affiliate marketing is indeed a VERY good way to earn money.

You see, when you create content online, search engines like Google automatically detect it & list it within their results as an option to click on whenever somebody searches for something related to it.

So as an example, if you had an interest in dogs & you created a page about toothbrushes for dogs, then Google would list that page within their results whenever somebody searched for something related to “dog toothbrushes”.

The screenshot below shows what I mean:

As you can see somebody has created a page outlining what they believe to be the 10 best dog toothbrushes & so when I searched for “dog toothbrushes”, the page showed up in the results.

So this means the person who created that page will now be getting visitors coming to check it out.

Google (and the other search engines) will literally be sending people to the page, for free.

And this means that the person who created the page now has the opportunity to promote products to all of those people as an affiliate.

Which is exactly what the creator of that page has done:

As you can see from the image above, next to each of the dog toothbrushes listed on that page the creator has added a link to check out the product on Amazon.

If you click on that link & buy something, the creator of that page gets paid a commission… Even if you happen to buy something completely different altogether.

So this means that from a small one-time effort of initially creating the page, the person who created it will now be receiving a completely passive income which could continue to pay them for many years to come.

The best part, however, is that there’s absolutely no limit on the amount of these pages that you can create.

The more you create, the more money you stand to make, and that’s how some affiliates are able to earn as much as 5, or even 6-figures every single month.

Wealthy Affiliate Complaints

If I told you Wealthy Affiliate was perfect & that there are absolutely no downsides to it then I wouldn’t be being honest with you, and honesty is my policy.

I do indeed actually have some Wealthy Affiliate complaints.

Complaint #1 – Distracting

Wealthy Affiliate provides a great platform for communicating & getting support, but at the same time, that great platform can also become your biggest distraction.

You see, ultimately you join Wealthy Affiliate to build a business & therefore the majority of your time should be spent doing exactly that.

Unfortunately, however, it’s very easy to find yourself spending most of your time socialising inside of the Wealthy Affiliate instead & not actually working on your business.

Complaint #2 – Unhelpful Advice

Inside of Wealthy Affiliate, there’s a ranking system that gives each member a rank based on things like how active they are and how much they help others in the community.

Here’s an example of the ranking leaderboard:

The rank doesn’t have any impact on a member’s income & it has no real importance or worth, but even so, a lot of people still end up getting obsessed over it.

People want to be highly ranked to be seen as if they are “important” or “knowledgable”.

As a result, this leads to many members leaving junk comments or answers in an attempt to try to game the system & move up the ranks by increasing their activity.

And the big problem is that it leads to members answering questions which they really know nothing about, thus leading to unhelpful advice being offered out.

Or often it just results in pure spam & unnecessary comments.

For example, it’s not uncommon for people to ask a question and then receive a bunch of responses saying things like “great question, wish I knew the answer, but I don’t“.

Pretty darn frustrating.

But aside from other little niggles with the platform, those are my only main Wealthy Affiliate complaints, so I guess overall the positives easily outweigh those problems.

The Bottom Line

If you’re serious about wanting to earn money online & are willing to put in the work to make it happen, then in my opinion Wealthy Affiliate is the best place to start.

Whether you’re brand new to affiliate marketing or whether you’ve tried it before but not had much success, Wealthy Affiliate will put you on the right track & give you everything you need to actually get results.

You see, I’ve actually tried a bunch of different programs related to making money online & I’ve literally NEVER come across one as complete as Wealthy Affiliate.

Certainly not for the price.

Most of the other programs either end up costing thousands of dollars or end up leaving you to discover that you need to purchase a whole bunch of additional things in order to actually get started.

No. Wealthy Affiliate has an affiliate program through which you can earn money by referring new members but the affiliate program only pays out commissions for direct referrals. Pyramid schemes operate on multiple levels & pass money from both direct & indirect referrals.

Does Wealthy Affiliate Make You Money?

No. Wealthy Affiliate provides you with the training & tools to make money, but it does not make money for you on your behalf. You must work in order to make money.

Is Wealthy Affiliate a MLM?

No. The Wealthy Affiliate affiliate program pays commissions on 1 level only, it does not operate any sort of multi-level-marketing compensation plan (thankfully).
